The Gremlins Have Discovered The Scroll
Greetings traveler,
There has been a disturbance in the Inkworks.
A rather feathery one.
The gremlins in the walls have established a new encampment.
📜 They have discovered The Scroll.
Until now, their particular brand of cheerful sabotage has been most noticeable around Registration and those portions of the Inkworks dependent upon machinery The Archivist cannot simply circumvent manually.
If something requires a functional backend, an external integration, an email verification, or some other mechanism beyond the reach of a determined Archivist armed with a quill and stubbornness—
the gremlins are probably in it.
Apparently, however, they grew bored.
Because they have now found the cache of Scrolls.
More concerningly:
They found the carrier pigeons. 🐦
Reconnaissance of the newest encampment has revealed parchment everywhere.
Scrolls have been unrolled, dragged about, ransacked, rearranged, and generally subjected to indignities for which parchment was never designed.
The pigeons who carry The Scroll have been thoroughly disturbed.
Feathers are everywhere.
The birds are indignant.
The Scrolls are in disarray.
And the gremlins?
The gremlins are delighted. 😂
They have apparently discovered that disrupting the signup mechanism prevents new travelers from joining The Scroll—
and disturbing the pigeons rather effectively interferes with sending the ones already waiting to be carried.
The Archivist suspects this may be their finest work to date.
The Archivist does not mean that as a compliment.
Practically speaking, travelers cannot currently reliably enlist to receive The Scroll, and The Archivist cannot reliably send it.

Fortunately, while the location of this particular encampment is newly discovered, the gremlins themselves are not a newly discovered expense.
Their relocation was already part of the plan.
The Inspired Quill Inkworks — Phase I: Opening the Doors already accounts for relocating the gremlins in the walls and establishing the functional machinery needed for those parts of the Inkworks that cannot simply be operated manually.
That includes this.
The discovery of tiny footprints through the Scroll cache does not change the Kickstarter goal.
No additional enchanted coffers must be filled.
No livestock need be bartered.
No mysterious bargains need be struck.
And no firstborns need be surrendered.
Frankly, The Archivist finds the traditional systems of commerce considerably easier than explaining backend infrastructure anyway.
For now, the newest encampment has been documented.
The surviving Scrolls are being inventoried.
The pigeons are being soothed.
And somewhere inside the walls, several extremely pleased gremlins are undoubtedly sitting atop their newly acquired hoard of parchment and feathers, congratulating themselves on a job well done.
Let them.
Their relocation paperwork has already been filed. 😂🪶
The Scroll is unfurled. The Quill is lifted. The ink is wet. Follow the Quill wherever it may lead....
